The Sachem Alumni Association is proud to announce just the second class of the Sachem Hall of Honor, the highest distinction given to an alumnus of the Sachem Central School District. Inductees will be honored at a ceremony on Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at Sachem High School North.
“We have started an incredible tradition of honoring our successful alumni so we can inspire current and future generations of Sachem students,” said Chris R. Vaccaro, president and founder of the Sachem Alumni Association. “Thousands of alumni have walked the halls of our historic buildings and developed their lives thanks to the lessons they learned at Sachem. We are proud to honor this year’s fine group of inductees who have made Sachem proud in their lives and careers.”
The Hall of Honor seeks to recognize alumni who have achieved extraordinary success in their chosen field or have provided exemplary service to the school district. The goal of the Hall of Honor is to promote school and community pride. Hall of Honor members provide an excellent resource for career advisement and networking for current and future students.
All inductees were nominated through a formal nomination process that was open to Sachem alumni and staff over the winter. Final selections were made by a committee comprised of representatives from the alumni association board, school administration, school board, student body and community.
Michael J. Timo Jr. will be the first recipient of the Sachem Alumni Association Lifetime Achievement Award this year. Timo, who recently passed away after a battle with ALS, served on the Sachem Central School District Board of Education for a number of years and was deeply involved with the community having served as a Chief and Commissioner of the Holbrook Fire Department.
